iPhone, iOS 18 or later. Free. No account.
In the moment
One tap records the start of an attack. Everything else is optional and can wait until you feel better.
The interface is dark and low-glare, with three calm themes, including a rose-tinted one for light sensitivity. No white screens, no flashing, no fields you must fill.
Say it, don't type it
Describe what is happening in your own words. The entry fills itself in: intensity, symptoms, what you took, what might have caused it. You see the result before it is saved and can change anything.
Voice notes are processed once by an AI service and are never stored. The app asks before the first use. Everything else works offline.
Afterwards
- Your medicine cabinet remembers your usual medicines and doses. Two hours after you take one, a quiet question asks whether it helped.
- A counter shows how many days this month you used acute medication, next to commonly cited thresholds. Something to discuss with your doctor, not a verdict.
- Mark clear days, so your history shows the good days too.
- Calendar and month numbers: days logged, attacks, days with medication, average intensity and duration.
- Export your whole history as CSV or JSON whenever you want.
What is free
The diary is free and stays free: unlimited entries, history, calendar, themes, export. Voice entry comes with 10 entries to start, 5 more every month and 10 more for every 30 days logged in a row. Unused entries carry over.
A paid tier may come later for unlimited voice and reports for your doctor. Nothing that is free today will become paid.
Who it is for
People with migraine who want to keep a record but give up on diaries that ask for twenty fields while the head is splitting. If you have tried other apps and stopped, this one was built around that exact moment.
From the maker
I have migraine with light sensitivity. Every diary I tried wanted a form filled in while I could barely look at the phone, so I stopped using them and lost the history my neurologist asked for. Captain is what I wanted instead: one tap now, details later, and a screen that does not hurt. I use it every day. During the beta I read every message.

Questions
Is this medical advice?
No. Captain does not diagnose, treat or predict anything. It keeps an honest record and helps you notice patterns in your own data. Please discuss what you find with a healthcare professional.
Does my data leave my phone?
Your diary stays on your iPhone. The only exception is a voice note: it is sent once to an AI service to fill in the entry and is not stored. Our server keeps only a short technical note - that a request happened, whether it worked, how long it took and how many items were recognized - without anything you said, for up to two years. There is no account and no analytics of your health data.
What happens if I stop paying later?
The diary, your history and export do not depend on any subscription. Voice goes back to the free entries: your balance stays and keeps growing every month.
Android?
Not yet. iPhone first.
How do I join the beta?
